1333075 Mechanical interrupters JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 28 June 1971 [23 July 1970] 35695/70 Heading H1N In a contact breaker assembly for use in an ignition distributer, operation of an ignition timing control mechanism is transmitted through an actuating rod to a pivot pin 36 on a carrier plate 19 carrying the fixed contact 24, then through plate 19 to the timing plate 14, to which plate 19 is releasably fastened, to move plate 14 angularly relative to the cam shaft of the distributer. It is stated that the timing control mechanism is a vacuum advance unit. Timing plate 14 is fastened to a sleeve 13 which is fastened to a plate 12 having an integral cylindrical collar 12a which is rotatable in hole 11a in base-plate 11. On plate 12 is an upturned lug 17 connected by a bolt to the edge of the casing with a spring between the casing and lug 17 so that rotation of the bolt pivots plate 12 which moves sleeve 13 and therefore plates 14 and 19 to alter the operating gap between contacts 24 and 28, cam follower 26 being moved radially with respect to the cam-shaft. Plate 14 is spaced from plate 11 by nylon studs 15 which are urged against plate 11 by springs 16 on sleeve 13. Oil soaked felt pad 38 lubricates the cam-shaft.
