Abstract

1310897 Ignition distributers JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 31 July 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 40188/69 Heading H1N An ignition distributer comprises a baseplate 11 secured to the casing of the distributer and through apertures 13 of which three projections 17 on a timing plate (15) pass so as to engage a further annular plate 21 which is resiliently coupled to the timing plate. A spigot 16 on the timing plate passes through plates 11, 21 and is secured in position by means of washer 23 and circlip 26 such that plate 21 is held against the projections 17. Angular movement is possible, relative to the plate 11, by plates 15 and 21, this being produced by a vacuum unit secured to the distributer casing. During assembly, Fig. 1 (not shown), the baseplate is mounted on the timing plate and a planishing tool (19) levels the projections 17 so as to be in the same plane and of a predetermined height. The assembly of the plates is secured in the distributer easing 31 by screws through lugs 12 of the base-plate, the contact-breaker assembly being mounted on the upper surface of the plate 15. The camshaft 32 of the distributer extends coaxially through the spigot 16. In an alternative embodiment the projections 17 and spigot 16 are formed on the lower plate 21. Nylon bearing pads are inserted between the plates so as to reduce friction.
