Abstract

1369914 Rotary interrupter DUCELLIER ET CIE 26 Jan 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 3607/72 Heading H1N In a contact breaker assembly for an ignition distributer, the pivoted arm 5, Fig. 1, carrying the abutting breaker contact 10 under control of the engine driven cam 12a is mounted on a pin 4 along which it is slidable axially against a spring 18 under the action of a relatively rotating ramp 11 in order to obtain a relative sliding and cleaning movement of the contact 10 on the fixed contact 9. In the example shown, the pin 4 is mounted on a plate 1 which rotates under the action of the vacuum advance mechanism. In modifications the sliding stud 15 on the pivot sleeve 6 of the arm 5 is replaced by a ball or roller to reduce friction. In another modification in which the pin 4 is mounted on a fixed plate having no vacuum advance adjustment, the ramp 11 is formed on a disc (20), Fig. 6 (not shown) rotatable with the contact breaker cam 12a.
