Abstract
1281124 Interrupters DUCELLIER & CIE 16 Feb 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 7304/70 Heading H1N A contact-breaker assembly for the ignition of an internal combustion engine wherein a rotating cam acts on a pivoted contact arm has a lever 11 pivoted on the base-plate 1 and arranged when pivoted to displace the contact arm 4 along its pivot shaft 8 thereby causing the movable contact (3, Fig. 1, not shown) to be moved relative to a fixed contact (2) in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the cam (7). The lever 11 is preferably coupled by a rod 15 to a vacuum capsule connected to the inlet manifold of the engine, but may be moved by the cam (7) itself, or any other movable part of the engine. When lever 11 is actuated by vacuum capsule, ignition advance may be obtained from the transverse movement of the breaker arm 4 by using a spiral cam (Fig. 5, not shown), or a standard cam but with the pivot shaft 8 inclined to the axis thereof (Fig. 6, not shown). Two breaker contact arms 4 may be moved simultaneously on separate shafts 8 (Fig. 4, not shown) or on a common shaft (Fig. 6, not shown).
