Abstract

1332503 Smoking compositions BRITISHAMERICAN TOBACCO CO Ltd 22 Sept 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 49095/70 Heading A2C [Also in Divisions C3 and D2] Cigarettes contain a smoking composition made by impregnating a cellulosic sheet material with an aqueous solution of a carboxylic polysaccharide selected from sodium alginate and pectins (in acid or salt form) and drying and shredding the impregnated material. The cellulosic sheet material may be paper e.g. made from α-cellulose pulp, or paper reconstituted tobacco. A flame retarding agent e.g. sulphate or phosphate of Mg, Al, or Na may be added to the sheet material.
