Abstract

1332289 Fuel injection pumps FRIEDMANN & MAIER AG 14 June 1972 [14 June 1971] 27846/72 Heading F1A The reciprocable pumping plunger 4 of a fuel injection pump is rotatable in its barrel 5 to control delivery, rotation of the plunger being effected by a longitudinally movable control rod 9 provided with transverse slots 15 in which are engageable driving members 8 carried by a sleeve 7 keyed to the plunger 4. As shown the members 8 are in the form of cylindrical studs 8 secured to a flange 12 on the sleeve 7, the flange 12 being received in a recess 11 in the control rod 9 thereby to prevent the rod from rotating. The ends of the recess 11 abut the flange 12 to limit the rods movement. In a modification the driving members 8 are in the form of spherical or part-cylindrical projections provided on a reduced diameter portion of the sleeve 7, Fig. 10 (not shown). Thus in this modification movement of the rodis limitedby tangential transitional surfaces (26) between the reduced and larger diameter portions engaging the rod 9.
