Abstract

1332223 Reactive monoazo dyes CIBA GEIGY AG 6 Jan 1971 [30 Jan 1970 26 Aug 1970] 629/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises monoazo dyes having the formula wherein Y 1 and Y 3 each represents H or -NRZ; Y 2 represents H, SO 3 H or -NRZ; Z and X each represents an aliphatic fibre-reactive acyl residue containing two or three carbon atoms the radical X containing at least one Cl or Br atom; and R is H or an alkyl group. With the proviso that the naphthalene nucleus contains a single -NRZ group or when Y 2 is not SO 3 H, Z and X each contain 3 carbon atoms. The benzene nucleus may also contain further substituents. The groups X and Z are advantageously halogenated acryloyl or propionyl residues, particularly brominated residues. The dyes may be obtained by diazotization and coupling or by acylation of a corresponding monoazo compound where one of Y 1 , Y 2 , Y 3 and/or the group -NHX represent amino groups with an anhydride or halide of an aliphatic acid containing a fibre reactive residue having 2 or 3 carbon atoms. Compounds containing α-bromoacryolyl groups as the fibre reactive residues may also be obtained by dehydrobromination of the corresponding dye containing α-#-dibromopropionyl groups. The dyes give orange and red shades on wool, silk, leather or synthetic polyamide fibres.
