Abstract

1308705 Azo dyes CIBA-GEIGY AG 3 Nov 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 52222/70 Heading C4P The invention comprises azo dyes, free from SO 3 H groups, of formula wherein D is the radical of a diazo component, A is p-phenylene which may be substituted, R 2 is an alkylene or alkylene-O-alkylene radical, X and X<SP>1</SP> are -O-, -S- or -NH-, Y is a cycloaliphatic radical, R 1 is alkyl which may be substituted and R 3 is an organic radical, and mixtures thereof. They are prepared by (a) azo coupling (b) condensing the compounds of formulae wherein R<SP>1</SP> 1 is an alkyl group or an -R 2 -X-H radical and Z is a halogen atom and (c) quaternizing the resultant products, if desired. The dyes may be used to colour leather, wool, silk and synthetic fibres, in particular polyacrylonitrile and polyester fibres in yellow, red and blue shades. Specification 1,308,706 is referred to.
