Abstract
1331893 Fixing electric fires in place; thermal storage heaters H E RUPP 12 April 1972 [14 April 1971] 16794/72 Headings F4U and F4W [Also in Division H2] Electrically heated thermal storage and/or radiant heater bodies 2, Fig. 3, are secured by screws 41 and hooks 38, 39 to lugs 5, 6 on a horizontal U-section bar 3 forming part of a supporting framework and each body contains a resistance heating wire 46, Fig. 4, with at least two connection contacts 42 ... 45 constructed as telescopic contact pins which extend beyond the side of the heater body surface facing the bar 3. The bar 3 has current conductors 9 ... 12 clamped within insulation strips 8 between longitudinally parallel ribs 7 on the web portion. The bars 3 at their ends carry contacts 13 ... 16 which extend rearwardly on the webs, each associated with a conductor 9 ... 12 and having an associated spring-urged resilient contact pin 13<SP>11</SP> ... 16<SP>11</SP> which pins are adapted to contact current conductors 28 ... 31 mounted within insulation strips 27 on the webs of vertical U-profile bars 4 forming the remainder of the supporting framework when the bars 3 and 4 are secured together by screws 24, 25 engaging bores 34, 35 in lugs 32, 33 of rail 4. Each heating body comprises a housing of regular or irregular prism form, formed of releasably latching parts 36, 37 which together with the resistance wire 46 forms a radiant heating body. The wire is surrounded with a thermal storage mass (not shown) to form a thermal storage heater. The heater may comprise several bodies of one or both types and a control thermostat and/or time switch may be provided in the current circuits. A thermostatically controlled fan for controllable removal of heal may be arranged on at least one of the heater bodies.
