Abstract

1330876 Foams of olefinically unsaturated compounds ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 10 Dec 1970 [12 Dec 1969] 58694/70 Heading C3C Foams of polymers of olefinically unsaturated compounds are made by charging a mixture of a polymer of an olefinically unsaturated compound in powder form and not containing foaming agents or such a polymer containing a foaming agent which decomposes on heating above the melting point of the polymer and beads and/or pellets of such a polymer which contains a foaming agent which decomposes on heating above the melting point of the polymer, into a concave mould, and rotating the mould in an atmosphere heated to a temperature higher than the decomposition temperature of the foaming agent. The product has an unfoamed or foamed surface skin layer integrated with an inner foamed layer of different density. Specified polymers are polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene-propylene copolymers, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, and ethylene-ethylacrylate copolymers. Specified foaming agents are benzenesulphonyl hydrazide, dintrosopentamethylene tetramine, azodicarbonamide, hydroxybenzenesulphonyl hydrazide, toluenesulphonyl semicarbazide, trihydrazinetriazine, hydroxybenzenesulphonyl semicarbazide, oxalic acid hydrazide, hydrazodicarbonamide, nitroguanidine, barium azodicarboxylate and mixtures. The moulding may be in the form of a sewing dummy.
