1330872 Tyre pressure gauge and inflator B L GUY and W S CAMPBELL 17 Nov 1970 54632/70 Heading G1L A pressure gauge comprises a tubular body 17 movable relative to a support 14 between a first position (shown) and a second position in which it may cause a tyre valve 12 to open, a piston 32 disposed in the tubular body and movable in response to fluid pressure when the tubular body 17 is in its second position, a sealing means 35 on either the piston or tubular body sealing the passage through the body only when the body is in the second position, there being means to indicate pressure in accordance with the position of the piston in the body. A combined pressure gauge and tyre inflator mounted on a tyre valve stem 10 has a support 14 with a tubular body 17 slidable between upper, as shown and lower Fig. 3 (not shown) positions, the movement controlled by balls 23, 24 slidable in grooves 19, 20 respectively in body 17. Also supported within support 14 is a plunger 37 for depressing the tyre valve, biassed, to the inoperative position shown, by spring 41. When in use as a pressure gauge Fig. 3 (not shown) body 17 is depressed and face 46 depresses plunger 37 to open the tyre valve, exposing piston 32 to the tyre pressure and 'O' ring 35 seals the piston to body 17. When used as an inflator, a pin (45), Fig. 2 (not shown) on an air chuck (44) depresses piston 32 which moves plunger 37 to open the tyre valve, the body 17 remaining in its upper position.
