Abstract

1330730 Granular diatomaceous earth SKARREHAGE MOLERVAERK AS 19 April 1971 [8 April 1970] 26623/71 Heading C1A Absorbent granular moler (diatomaceous earth) is produced from raw moler containing more than 30% wt. of water by (i) crushing, (ii) screening to obtain 2-10 mm. granules and (iii) drying and baking said granules at 400- 1000‹ C. The basic moler may have a water content of 45-55% wt. water and this may be dried to 30-45% wt. water prior to screening and may also be combined with a portion of the oversized moler. The crushed moler may be subjected to a flow of warm air during the screening, which may be carried out using vibrating or shaking screening. Crushing is preferably carried out using a toothed roller mill and drying and baking in a counter flow rotary kiln.
