Abstract

1329553 Rotary driers MASKINFABRIKEN TAARUP AS 8 Sept 1970 [16 Sept 1969] 43024/70 Heading F4G [Also in Division B2] In a combined rotary drier and separator the drying drum 1 rotating about a horizontal axis has a stationary end wall 6 through which passes an extraction pipe 2 for removal of solid material by means of, for example, suction motor 3 to a cyclone 4 having a discharge valve 5. Air from within the drum is extracted via an opening 7 in end wall 6 inwardly of which may be located a louvre filter 8, and an inclined duct 17 leads to a centrifugal impeller in a housing 18 enclosing the separator which separates solid material particles from the air by centrifugal action. The cleaned air passes upwardly through an exhaust duct 21, 22 which forms with the housing a narrow annular slot at its lower edge and an annular compartment 23 in which the solid material is collected and from which it may be discharged by means of a tangentially extending pipe 24 to be returned to the drum 1 or collected in bags.
