Abstract

1329507 Tank cleaning machine SYBRON CORP and CLOUD CO 19 April 1971 [18 May 1970] 20207/71 Heading A4F A tank cleaning apparatus comprises a stationary housing 12, first and second rotating housings 14, 16 rotatable about mutually perpendicular axes, the second carrying offset nozzles and rotating in response to rotation of the first about the stationary housing, the first rotating housing being driven from an impeller (57) Fig. 2 (not shown) in a passage of the stationary housing via a train 92 of aligned and joined spur and pinion gear assemblies 101-105 on two shafts 93, 94 so that a ring gear 114 on the first rotating housing rotates more slowly than the impeller. The second rotatable housing, mounted on the first rotatable housing is driven by rotation of the first rotatable housing by a pair of bevel gears (23, 47) Fig.2 (not shown) mounted respectively on the stationary housing 11 and the second rotatable housing 16. A friction clutch (51) permits the rotation of the second rotatable housing when no fluid is being passed and allows bevel gear (47) to rotate independently of the housing if rotation of the second housing is prevented whilst fluid is being passed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1096713.
