Abstract

1329063 Associating webs; folding HARRISINTERTYPE CORP 19 April 1971 [25 March 1970 17 Aug 1970] 22987/71 Heading B8R [Also in Division B6] Successively connected business forms F are produced from a plurality of overlying webs by perforating the webs at longitudinally spaced intervals, e.g. along transverse lines 62, to define said forms F and crimping and gluing the overlying webs together along at least one of their edges to lock the webs together, e.g. to prevent relative movement between the webs during subsequent zig-zag folding. Paper webs P may be joined to carbon paper webs C by glue spots or lines L1 applied by brushes (34), Fig. 1, (not shown), or by crimps via a crimping wheel (29), the joined carbon and paper webs then being fed by pin bolts (40), (50) past a second gluing station, lines L2 or spots. The webs are then moved into overlying relationship and towards perforating cylinders (60) and thence to a crimping device (70) comprising adjustably spaced toothed wheels 80 and wheels 100 having co-operating toothed projections 104, the teeth being substantially of V shaped cross-section and forming crimps adjacent opposite sides of the perforation line 62 either between pin feed holes H or outwardly of the holes H. The crimps may extend across said lines, Fig. 9 (not shown). Brushes may be used to clean the crimping wheel teeth.
