Abstract

1328904 Gas blast circuit breakers SIEMENS AG 29 June 1971 [30 June 1970] 30496/71 Heading H1N A gas blast circuit breaker arrangement has a blast-piston type circuit breaker 1, the arc quenching gas of which may be caused to flow through a filter arrangement by means of a compressor 12. The compressor 12 is also associated with a further gas blast circuit breaker 5 having high pressure housings 15b, (16b), (17b), low pressure housings 15a, 16a, (17a) and a gas blast valve 20. The compressor 12 comes into operation at predetermined intervals, or at any other suitable times, and passes a quantity of gas, e.g. SF 6 , from the low pressure housings of breaker 5, through filters 26, 10, compressor 12 and an oil separator 34, to the high pressure housings. This gas flow which passes through the series connected housings R, S, T of breaker 1 therefore provides a cleaning and drying operation for the arc quenching gas contained in the breaker 1.
