Abstract

1328881 Electro-photographic developing apparatus AGFA-GEVAERT 19 April 1971 [31 March 1970] 15195/70 Heading G2H [Also in Division B2] An endless belt 27 picks up toner powder from a source 44 and is advanced at such a speed that, as it sharply charges direction at a roller 30, the toner is flung off. The toner may be flung straight on to an electrostatic image bearing drum 19 (as depicted in Fig.1 (not shown), or on to an applicator roller 32 (as shown in Fig. 2), or into a cascade development device 35, 37, Fig.3 (not shown). The toner in supply 44 may be dry or suspended in a liquid. Preferred materials for the belt are named e.g. metal, rubber, string, paper. The belt may be roughened, ribbed or grooved Fig. 5 (not shown). The rollers 30, 31, 32 may be electrically biased. Application may be controlled by a scraper (not shown) positioned between rollers 30, 31. In Fig.1, where the belt applies developer direct, application may be controlled by adjusting the potential applied to roller 30. Roller 32 is preerably aluminium covered with polyurethane foam. The developed imaged may be fixed by fusing with a laser beam. It is stated that the devices described can be used for the closed feeding of toner powder in a replenishing unit for painting walls.
