Abstract

1327222 Handles; injection moulding handles OATES Ltd 7 May 1971 [11 May 1970] 22645/70 Headings B4K and B5A A D-shaped handle for a hand tool includes a wooden handgrip 10 and a synthetic plastics moulding constituting the limbs 16 of the handle and an integral shaft or socket portion 18, the opposite ends of the wooden handgrip being separated from said moulding by means of sealing members 24. Fig. 1 shows the handgrip 10 positioned in one half of a mould with sealing members 24 positioned about spigot portions 22 which are undercut to give a good connection with limbs 18. Members 24 are flexible to follow the shape of the spigots and may be made of plastics or aluminium sheet. The spigots 22 may have flats to co-operate with flats formed in members 24 to ensure there is no relative rotation between the two parts. The members 24 may also have a further flange (28) Fig. 3 (not shown) with notches (30) to prevent relative rotation between the members and limbs 16.
