Abstract

1327169 Vibratory finishing WHEELABRATOR-FRYE Inc 9 June 1972 [25 June 1971] 27031/72 Heading B3D A vibratory device through which parts are processed with media for surface treatment comprises a bowl 1 mounted for vibratory movement and having an inlet and an outlet 8, the outlet being connected by a flexible coupling 9 to a discharge shoot 6 having independent vibratory means 13. The bowl 1 is resiliently supported on springs 2 or the like and is vibrated by an eccentric drive (not shown) so as to move the parts 3 and media 4 in a spiral or orbital path 5. The outlet end 8 of the bowl is connected by the flexible coupling 9, which may be of rubber or plastics material and have one or more corrugation 16, to the discharge shoot 6. The shoot is supported by rubber mounts 17 from a stand 19 and is vibrated by an eccentric drive 13. The frequency of the drive 13 is adjustable so that the parts in the shoot move at the same, or a higher, speed than those in the bowl. In another embodiment, the coupling is in two parts and a stationary support is connected to both parts, one of which is connected to the bowl and the other of which is connected to the shoot.
