1326353 Enzyme granules for detergents ALBRIGHT & WILSON Ltd 10 Aug 1970 [5 Aug 1969 6 Aug 1969] 39258/69 and 39470/69 Heading C5D Solid granules for incorporation in enzyme cleaning powders comprise a powdered washing enzyme, 50 to 95% by wt. of granule of a solid hydrotrope, 1 to 40% by wt. of granule of a surfactant binder and 0 to 45% by wt. of a solid detergent builder salt. The hydrotrope is an alkali metal, ammonium or alkaline earth metal salt of a C 1 -C 5 alkyl benzene sulphonate, benzene sulphonate or naphthalene sulphonate or a mixture thereof. The surfactant is preferably a non-ionic surfactant or a soap and should have a melting point below 60‹ C. Less preferred are anionic surfactants, e.g. sodium lauryl sulphate and sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate. The detergent builder salt may be an alkaline builder salt e.g. sodium tripolyphosphate or an organic sequestrant. The granules may be encapsulated in a layer of solid non-ionic detergent or soap by spraying the granules with the said coating. A detergent powder contains the enzyme granules, sodium perborate, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium silicate, Na 2 SO 4 , carboxymethylcellulose and dodecyl benzene sulphonate.
