Abstract

1325507 Metallized monoazo dyes CIBAGEIGYAG 1 Sept 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 40825/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises metallized monoazo dyes of formula wherein A is an optionally substituted benzene or naphthalene radical; X is -0- or -COO- in the ortho position to the azo group; Z is H, halogen, C 1- C 4 alkyl, alkoxy or carboxyl; R 1 is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl; R 2 is H or an aliphatic radical; Y 1 is a benzene or naphthalene radical optionally containing sulphonic acid groups; Y 2 is an aliphatic aromatic or cycloaliphatic radical, n is 1 or 2 and Me is Cu, Fe or Ni, the dye molecule containing at least 2 and at most 5 carbon atoms. The dyes may be prepared by reacting a cyanuric halide stepwise and in optional sequence in the molar ratio 1 : 1 : 1 : 1 with a compound of formula an amine of formula HNR 1 Y 1 and an amine of formula HNR 2 Y 2 . Alternatively, the corresponding unmetallized azo compound may be subjected to metallization. The dyes give yellow and brown shades on leather and organic materials, e.g. polyamide fibres.
