1325195 Testing brake systems BRITISH LEYLAND (AUSTIN-MORRIS) Ltd 11 May 1971 [15 July 1970] 34234/70 Heading F2E An hydraulic braking system including a master cylinder is tested by providing the system with means to indicate a negative pressure moving the master cylinder piston to expel hydraulic fluid from the cylinder into the system and bleeding excess fluid therefrom, sealing any vent holes, valves or bleeder devices which can normally allow ingress of air into the system and allowing the piston to return to create a negative pressure which can be detected by a distortion of a flexible sealing cap substituted for the normal reservoir cap, retention of the distortion indicating that the system is free from leaks.
