Abstract

1499014 Pneumatically controlled hydraulically actuated brakes WESTINGHOUSE AIR BRAKE CO 23 April 1975 [10 July 1974] 16863/75 Heading F1D A pneumatic-hydraulic converter for a pneumatically controlled hydraulically actuated brake apparatus has a diaphragm 29 clamped peripherally between casing sections 21, 22 and with its inner part clamped between a plate 31 and a follower 30 to form chambers 33, 34. The follower 30 is integral with a hydraulic piston 36 received in a bore 37 which forces hydraulic fluid into a chamber 70 to operate a brake piston 62 when pneumatic pressure is applied to chamber 34. Conduits 75, 76 connecting chambers 33, 60 and chamber 60 to the hydraulic reservoir provide for return to the reservoir of hydraulic fluid leaking past piston seals 49, 74.
