Abstract

1325051 Rotational moulding PLASTIC ROTATIONAL MOULDINGS Ltd 25 Nov 1970 [26 Nov 1969] 57829/69 Addition to 1228745 Heading B5A An improvement in or modification of the rotational moulding apparatus described and claimed in Specification 1,228,745 comprises a heating chamber A in which the mould support may be located, first and second tanks 9 and 10, respectively adapted to contain a liquid or liquifiable solid heating medium, an immersion heater 11 for heating the tank 9, a loop path 13 from a pump 14 for passing the contents of the tank 9 to the tank 10 via a fuel fired heat exchanger 12, a supply duct 3a from a pump 4a in the tank 10 to a spray in the chamber A and a return duct 6a from a catchment tank in the chamber A to the tank 9, the two tanks being separated by an overflow weir 8. The duct 3a is sloped back to the tank 10 for drainage. The apparatus may comprise more than one chamber A, each fed from a separate supply duct and pump. The heater 12 can be controlled in dependence on the temperature of the liquid flowing through the duct 13. The pumps 14 and 4a may be interlocked. If more than one pump 4a is fitted they need not operate simultaneously. The tanks can be heated by gas flowing through pipes, and can be automatically topped up with liquid medium. The weir 8 has notches at each side, Fig. 2, not shown, to ensure that medium flowing over it is kept away from the pump inlet.
