Abstract

1324978 Seaming GAF CORP 30 June 1971 [1 July 1970] 30745/71 Heading B5K [Also in Division G2] In a roll film cartridge comprising a base part and a cover part which are subsequently welded together by ultrasonic sealing, the cover part has small integral lugs or bosses 20, 22 on each edge. With a No. 126 cartridge the bosses have a height of about 0À015 inch. The sealing is carried out as a "one-shot" operation, only one ultrasonic horn, energized at a frequency of about 20 KHs, being necessary. The bosses have a two-fold function, firstly, as an "energy director", and secondly to supply additional material for the seal.
