Abstract
1388685 Seaming non-metallic sheet material J H GAUNTLETT 30 March 1972 [3 April 1971] 8613/71 Heading B5K [Also in Division B8] In a machine for producing liquid filled containers, two filled, flanged part containers 11 are ultrasonically welded together. The machine comprises in one embodiment, Fig. 5, a rotatable index plate 16, a welding horn 21 and an anvil 19. The part containers 11 are fed to the welding horn and anvil and held therein during the filling and welding operations. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 7, one of the pair of part containers is held in a rigid external body 48 and a welding horn 49 is arranged within this body 48. Liquid seals 31, 51 are provided between the welding components to define a liquid tight chamber. The machine may be of duplex form.
