[Also in Division B5] A method of sealing an open end of a container 1 having an inner plastics lining 3 comprises pressing a lid 4 having a rim 4a, 4b on to the container with a layer of plastics forming a lining for the lid and heat sealing together abutting areas of the container and lid lining. The lid lining may be initially separate or attached to the lid. The container lining may extend only as far as the edge la and not cover it. In this case the edge of the container may be turned out and over to form a rim, Fig. la (not shown).
