Abstract

1324889 Electro-depositing tin EI DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 7 Dec 1970 [8 Dec 1969] 58080/70 Heading C7B Tin is electro-deposited from a halogen tin plating bath from which dissolved and entrained oxygen is displaced by introduction of a mixture of water and a gas inert to the system, e.g. carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, nitrogen, argon, helium, (m)ethane, propane or butane. The tin bath used may comprise tin chloride, sodium fluoride, sodium chloride, sodium iron cyanide, polyethylene oxide and ethylene glycol monoethyl ether. As shown strip 8 to be tin-plated is passed between rollers 6 and 7, and 1 and 2, electrolyte being supplied via pipes 3, 4 and withdrawn via outlet 5 for recirculation. The inert gas/ water mixture may be supplied via inlet 9 to the pipe 5.
