1324267 Check-out shop counters W POTRAFKE 30 Nov 1970 [12 Dec 1969 29 Dec 1969] 56822/70 Heading A4T In a check-out counter in which goods pass to a check-out surface 5 directly from a basket or via a conveyor 4, Fig.1, from a trolley and after checking slide down in line 8 to one of three withdrawal compartments 9-11, the compartment is selected by means of a conveyor device 15. The endless belt conveyor 15 is mounted horizontally on wheels on tracks 18 whereby goods may pass directly from surfaces 5 to 8 and into the central compartment 10 as shown in Fig.1 or the conveyor may be moved to cover the entrance to the compartment 10 and the conveyor operated to deliver goods to one side or the other of surface 8 and thus into either compartment 9 or 11. In Fig. 5, the reversible belt conveyor 30 at the entrance to middle compartment 10 is slopingly fixed or pivotable downwards and then covered by a sliding or hinged plate 31 completing surface 8 and leading to the middle compartment or the conveyor and plate or two separate conveyors are on a frame rotatable about an axis lying parallel and adjacent across incline 8. In Fig. 8 frame 37 is rotatable to place one of three conveyors in position for serving a compartment, and one conveyor may be replaced by the plate for the middle compartment. In Fig. 11 (not shown) two horizontally pivoted counter balanced oppositely moving conveyors are shown or a single conveyor vertically pivoted to move away from the central compartment is used. The plate on which goods slide into the central compartment may be a stationary conveyor belt and formed with metal rollers.
