Abstract

1324207 Boots &c HEINRICH JOSEF WINTER KUNSTSTOFFVERARBEITUNG UND WERKZEUBAU GmbH 13 Oct 1971 [13 Aug 1971] 47669/71 Heading A3B An insole includes a main parts 1' having a reinforcement 4 of plastics material in its shank and heel region and a separate cover layer 3 of the same size and shape as the heel and shank portion of the main part. The insole is made by placing the main part 1' and cover layer 3 (Fig. 3) in an injection mould an injecting the reinforcement 4, the connection between the main part 1' and cover layer 3 being such as to allow the plastics material to flow between the main part 1' and the cover layer 3. The insole may also include a spring steel shank stiffener 2. The stiffener 2 is connected to the main part 1' before moulding by punching tabs 5, 6, in the main part 1' and slotting the tabs 5, 6 through apertures 7, 8 in the siffener 2. The tab 5 is also slotted into an aperure 9 in the cover layer 3 to connect he cover layer 3 to the main par 1'. Alernatively the cover layer 3 may be stapled or tacked to the main part. The main part 1' has an aperture or recess 10 which allows the plastics material 4 to flow around the stiffener 2. The main part 1' may be made of leather, cardboard, non-woven fabric or pressed fibre and the cover layer 3 may be of the same material but thinner than the main part 1'. The plastics material 4 may be polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene.
