Abstract

1324025 Ventilating buildings SUMMIT AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT Ltd 3 Jan 1972 [2 Oct 1970 8 March 1971] 46881/70 and 6232/71 Heading F4V A livestock house comprises a chamber formed by the roof structure and the ceiling 7 from which ventilating air flows to the interior of the house. The ceiling is formed from airpermeable material preferably glass fibre matting supported on beams 8. A shaft 11, formed in the roof has an extension 15 covered by a flexible sheet 18, and houses a fan 17. When the fan is operated air is drawn through the shaft 11 into the chamber, the air becomes pressurized and is forced through the ceiling 7. The air flows out of the house through apertures (19, Fig. 1, not shown) in the walls of the house. In the event of a power failure or slowing down of the fan or loss of pressure in the shaft, a panel 14 at the lower end of shaft 11 opens, allowing air to flow from the house to atmosphere and windows and doors open to facilitate the flow of fresh air into the house.
