Rollers.-The rollers of jigs or vats for dyeing cloth are mounted on ball centres comprising single balls g lying in hardened cups e, i secured to the roller a and the side of the vat. The cup i fits over or within the spindle b<1> of the roller and is secured by a cross pin d. To provide for expansion of the spindle in hot liquid, one of the cups at one or each end of the roller is supported by a spring h. A small spring-supported cup may be placed in a recess in the plug e. The projecting spindle b<1> may be replaced by a hardened block let into the end of the roller or sliding within a liner. The balls, cup, and bushes may be made of glass or granite. The bearings are applicable to other machines for treating cloth, such as caustic impregnating tanks, open soapers, calenders, and ageing machines.
