1323996 Laminates BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 1 Feb 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 3615/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division H1] A prestressed laminate of paper/plastics/ paper may be made by trapping a molten web of plastics between two paper sheets as it leaves an extruder. For use in a cable dielectric the paper may be an uncalendered electrical grade cellulosie paper of intermediate fibre length having a density in the range 0À7-0À86 gm cm<SP>-3</SP> and an impermeability greater than 10,000 Gurley seconds/mil., e.g. kraft coil winding paper. The plastics film may be high density polyethylene, polypropylene; polycarbonates, polysulphones, saturated linear polyesters (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) polyphenylene oxide, poly 4- methylpentene - 1, polytetrafiuoroethylene, ethylene propylene copolymers, fluorinated ethylene-propylene copolymers, polyfiuorostyrene or polyvinylcarbazole may also be used. The plastics material may be irradiated after lamination. All or some of the layers may be loaded with carbon, and/or metallized. The paper layers may be loaded with finely divided aluminium oxide or another active metal oxide, hydrated metal oxide, hydroxide, carbonate or basic carbonate with sorptive powers comparable with that of aluminium oxide,
