1323789 Vehicle engine cooling DAIMLERBENZ AG 16 Dec 1971 [19 Dec 1970] 58478/71 Headings F1B B2C 3A1 B2C3C and B2C7H The internal-combustion engine 10 of a motor vehicle is cooled by a fan 13 located between the radiator 15 and the engine 10. Fan 13 is driven by the engine and is of the semi-axial flow type having blades 18 which are substantially flat when viewed radially of the fan arranged, as shown, about a frusto-conical hub 17 and rotating within a shroud 14 attached to the radiator or its mounting. The shroud may also be frusto-conical. The fan 13 may be driven via a hydraulic clutch 11 in dependence on coolant temperature. Twelve overlapping blades 18 may be provided.
