Abstract

1323444 Loading arms YOUNGSTOWN SHEET & TUBE CO 20 Nov 1970 [26 Nov 1969] 55401/70 Heading B8E [Also in Division F2] A loading arm for transferring fluid cargo comprises a riser pipe 11 and a counterbalanced outer arm 14 connected thereto by a flow conductor elbow 16, an angled structural member 13 being connected by swivel joints 12, 15 to the riser 11 and arm 14, whereby the elbow 16 can be readily removed to facilitate changing or servicing packing seals in the swivel joints 12, 15 without dismantling the joints or removing the arm 14. The elbow 16 is bolted to the two arms of the member 13 which are in turn each bolted to one bearing race of the swivel joints 12, 15. In the embodiment of Figs. 6-11 (not shown) the riser pipe feeds two outer arms, the latter being connected through axially aligned swivel joints to the arms of a U-shaped structure, the base of which is connected through a further swivel joint to the riser pipe. A removable flow conductor, which equally divides the flow from the riser for supply to the two arms, is receivable within the U-shaped structure.
