Abstract

1322774 Laminates; forms of wood VEBACHEMIE AG 4 Aug 1970 [5 Aug 1969] 37642/70 Headings B5L and B5N [Also in Division C3] Articles are adhesively secured together by disposing between them a copolyamide adhesive comprising 10 to 90 mol per cent of units derived from a C 4-12 open chain and/or cyclic aliphatic dicarboxylic acid together with both open-chain and cyclic C 2-15 aliphatic diamines at least half of which have alkyl substituents in the chain or ring and 90 to 10 mol. per cent of a C 4-12 omega-amino-acid component, heating the adhesive and pressing the articles together. The articles may be textiles or wood. In examples (1) 0À1 to 0À44 mm. powder of a copolymer of adipic acid/1 - amino - 3 - aminomethyl - 3,5,5 - trimethyl cyclohexane/2,2,4- trimethyl hexamethylene diamine/caprolactam is sprinkled between layers of canvas which are ironed together at 130‹ C., (2) a 0À2 mm. foil of a copolyamide of azelaic acid/1,3-diaminomethyl cyclohexane/2 - methyl hexamethylene diamine/ 3,3 - dimethyl hexamethylene diamine/ caprolactam is interposed between 2 thin layers of wood which are pressed in a steam press at 10 Kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>; (3) a similar polyamide to that in (1) but wherein the 2,4,4-isomer of the trimethyl hexamethylene diamine is used to glue linings into garments; and (4) an ethanol solution of a copolyamide of adipic acid/1-amino-3- aminomethyl - 3,5,5 - trimethyl cyclohexane/ dodecane methylene diamine/2,4,4-trimethyl hexamethylene diamine/caprolactam/aminoundecanoic acid is sprayed on to a cellulose ester fleece which is pressed at 130‹ C. General reference is made to other monomers which may be included in the copolymer.
