Abstract

1322187 Boots &c DELTA MOULDINGS (LEICESTER) Ltd 18 Feb 1972 [18 Nov 1970] 54751/70 Heading A3B A heel filler, for incorporation in a moulded sole and heel unit, consists of a recessed heel block 1 and a shank 3, the shank 3 having flexible portions 4 along each side which, during moulding of the sole and heel unit, are pressed into sealing engagement with the underside of the lasted upper and insole to prevent sole material flowing into the recesses in the heel block 1. Preferably the heel block 1 is hollow and is formed with strengthening ribs 2 The heel block 1 may also be formed with a chamfer (not shown) at the rear end of its lower surface which corresponds to the part of the heel which is subjected to maximum wear in use. Preferably the filler is integrally moulded in plastics material e.g. polypropylene.
