Abstract

1321778 Boring earth &c LEE C MOORE CORP 21 Dec 1971 [15 April 1971] 59307/71 Heading E1F In a well derrick comprising front legs each having parts 6, 7, rear legs 1 connected by bracing, and side bracing 8, 9 connecting a front to a rear leg, the parts 6 are parallel to each other and form rails guiding a dolly 17 for the travelling block 14. The derrick between the parts 6 is without bracing, and a racking platform 11 extends forward from the parts 6. In the construction shown the parts 6 are I beams and their webs are parallel, the arrangement being suitable for use with a power swivel. In a modification suitable for drilling from a ship, the webs converge towards the centre line of the derrick.
