Abstract

1321376 Sewing machines; work guides LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd 15 March 1972 [5 March 1971] 6110/71 Heading DIG A guide 10 guides a zip fastener and inner and outer folds of fabric towards twin needles of a sewing machine (not shown). The inner layers of the fabric are introduced into the channels 11 and pass in the direction "A", while the zip passes under the guide 24 and through the guide 20. The outer layers of material are placed on the guide 20 and guided by the rib 23. Supporting plates 25 with flanges 26 are used to mount the attachment to a sewing machine. Spring blades 27 attached to a lever 28 pass through apertures in the lower guide plate 14 and into the channels where they contact the material; by varying the pressure on them using lever 28 the speed of the material may be controlled. The guides are brass and are brazed one to another.
