Abstract
1321194 Electric couplings PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES 7 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 7191/71 Heading H2E Two stranded wires 11, 13 with insulation 12, 14 are interconnected by a stainless steel pin 3 with a sharp point 4 and held together by a nylon or polypropylene clamp. The clamp comprises a head 1, with a cylindrical boss 6 in which the pin is moulded, and an integral flat flexible tail 2. The pin is pushed into the wires and the tail 2 is fed through a slot 8 in the head and drawn tight. Serrations 7, 7a and lips 10 resist withdrawal of the tail. A shallow trough 15 in the head accommodates wire 11, and resists rotation of the wire about the pin 3. The tail 2 is wide enough to resist rotation of wire 13. The device can be used with wires of different diameters. For thin wires, the pin 3 can be shortened with wire cutters, which automatically form a new point 4.
