Abstract

1320803 Knitting-machines W REINERS VERWALTUNGS GmbH 12 May 1971 [16 May 1970] 14385/71 Heading D1C In a method of operating a warp knitting machine which knits fabric with inlaid wefts, in the event of breakage of the weft supplied to a store 11, the knitting instruments are inactivated while weft accumulated in the store are removed and the store replenished by action of the thread laying device. The store 11 comprises wheels 10, 10a carrying radial projections 9, and situated adjacent the cloth selvedges weft lengths 4 are wound around the projections by a rotating arm 6. If the weft breaks between the arm and the store the machine will stop. It is then inched into a predetermined position and the drive between the knitting instruments, and the store and arm disengaged. The weft reserve is cut from the fabric at 14 and completely removed. The store is replenished after which the drive connection is reestablished, and normal operation resumes.
