Abstract

1401623 Textile machine MEINERS OPTICAL DEVICES Ltd 8 Sept 1972 [16 Sept 1971 27 March 1972] 43330/71 and 14341/72 Heading D1C In a textile machine, particularly a warp knitting machine, the tension of a sheet of warps is maintained constant by a tension bar driven to and fro in synchronism with the knitting elements to suit the pattern. The bar may be operative at all times; during steady running; or during stopping and starting, when it eliminates stop lines. A conventional "flutter bar" may also be provided. In the embodiment shown the warps 22 are tensioned by a rod 10 attached to an oscillating spindle 11. The rod may be bowed to prevent selvedge curl. The spindle is oscillated by a rod 26 driven by a two arm lever 29 and an eccentric 27 driven by the main shaft, punched tapes or electrical control. It is synchronised to the movements of the knitting bar, which may be electronically monitored. The lever 29 is mounted on an eccentric 30 which is rotated by an electromagnet as the machine stops to give an increased yarn reserve, which is slowly released on starting up. This provision assists the elimination of stop lines. The machine is stopped with the needles in the down position.
