Abstract
1320761 Building construction; structural joints P NYLAND 21 Oct 1970 [13 Jan 1970] 1508/70 Headings E1K and E1W A girder 16 is secured to a reinforced concrete column 17 by embedding a tubular element 11 longitudinally in the column with one end projecting. The girder is then seated on flanges 12 formed from metal strips welded to the element 11 and to the ends of the reinforcing bars 19. When in position the girder is bolted to element 11 by bolts passing through aligned holes in the element and girder or cleats 15 welded to the girder. The girder may then be welded in position. A haunch may be provided on the girder and similarly fixed to a more elongate element 11.
