Abstract
Each prefabricated part has a width corresponding to that of the bridge and contains within its hollow interior two symmetrical concrete beads or ribs which are formed or cast with the part and are connected to it by reinforcement. The ribs are penetrated by holes running parallel to the longitudinal axis of the part and through one of which is passed a threaded steel rod with a high elastic limit when the parts are to be assembled together. The rod is held in place by nuts. The second part is placed next to the first and has a similar but longer rod passed through a hole and joined to the first, shorter rod by a threaded sleeve. The parts are then clamped together by e.g. an hydraulic cylinder and the clamping nuts on the rods tightened up until they are firmly screwed up against the ribs.
