Abstract

1320626 Radioactive diagnostic preparations PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. 19 May 1971 [22 May 1970] 15771/ 71 Heading A5B [Also in Division G6] A radioactive diagnostic preparation is formed by adding a solution containing technetium-99m to powdered ferrous ascorbate, adjusting the pH to between 7 and 8, and agitating the mixture. The ferrous ascorbate is preferably prepared by freeze drying, and the technetium solution may be obtained by elution of a radioactive technetium generator. The pH may be adjusted by adding a solution of trihydroxymethylaminomethane. The invention also includes a powdered mixture of ferrous ascorbate and an alkaline substance and a kit comprising sterilised powdered ferrous ascorbate in a container and an alkaline substance in a container, for use in the preparation of the radioactive solution. The solution may be used in the scintigraphic examination of the brain and kidneys. Prior art processes referred to comprise adding a technetium solution to a solution of ascorbic acid and ferric chloride or ferrous sulphate.
