Abstract

1319993 Chimney terminals DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 30 June 1970 [1 July 1969 9 Sept 1969] 31731/70 Heading F4J [Also in Division F2] An adjustable flue shaft terminal 1 comprises a lower part 3 extending through a solid flat roof 4 and secured to it by a fixing flange 2, and an upper part 11 provided with gas vents 16 and a cover 17, which fits within the lower part, to be held within it in any desired position. This is effected by circumferentially and axially spaced projections (18, Fig. 2, not shown) on the outside surface of the upper part engaging between like projections (12, Fig. 3, not shown) on the inside surface of the lower part, when the upper part is turned clockwise within the lower part, after being lowered into it to the desired position. Ribs 14 in the lower part prevent the upper part from falling right through it during erection. Both parts may be injection moulded from PVC, the lower part connecting into a flue pipe 6. Insulation 7 and a bitumenous or PVC roofing sheet 8 may cover the solid roof 4, a soft flanged PVC sleeve 10 sealing the joint between sheet 8 and the lower part 3. Alternatively (Fig. 4, not shown) the fixing flange 2 may be secured to the roof of the insulation 7, a soft PVC sealing foil (19) being adhesively bended or welded to the flange and then bonded or welded under or between one or more roofing sheets to form a watertight joint between them and the flange of the lower part. In this case the lower part may be spaced from the solid roof part 4 by surrounding heat insulating and aluminium foil sleeves, the latter forming part of the roofing structure. The roofing sheets may be covered by a gravel bed.
