Abstract

1319769 Filter element WILKINS & MITCHELL Ltd 1 Dec 1970 [2 Dec 1969] 58713/69 Headings B1D and BIT [Also in Division F4] An air filter element 10 for retaining lint in the rotary drum of a tumbler drier comprises a one-piece moulding of polypropylene comprising inner and outer thick rims connected by a perforate generally frusto-conical web (Figs. 1 to 4, not shown). The element is injection moulded in a mould comprising projections on one half to form the perforations. The web is reinforced by integral radial ribs (21). Fig. 5 shows the element mounted on the air outlet end of the rotary drum together with a screen 24 which holds the clothes being dried away from the element. The screen has a split sleeve 25, 26 which is gripped by the inner rim 12 of element 10 to hold the screen on to rotary hub 27 of the drum. The outer rim 29 of the screen holds the outer rim 13 of the element against the drum periphery 23. The drier includes a heater over which air is drawn upstream of the drum, by a fan downstream of the element 10.
