Abstract

1,096,994. Package support. COURTAULDS Ltd. Jan. 22, 1965 [Jan. 23, 1964], No. 2895/64. Heading B8M. A yarn package support, particularly for supporting a centrifugally spun cake 6 while being washed, comprises at least three flexible resilient flaps 2, each projecting from a tubular body 1 at an angle to an associated tangent to the body and running parallel to or at an angle of less than 10 degrees to the axis of the tubular body. The tubular body may have a circular, hexagonal or other cross-section and is flexible and perforated. The flaps and body portion may be moulded integrally from a plastics material or the flaps can be assembled on annular end pieces. For washing a number of packages the supports carrying the packages are mounted on a cylindrical sleeve between flanges; the packages may remain so mounted for a subsequent hot air drying process. A method of compressing the flaps for insertion in a package is described.
