Abstract

1319053 Vibration transducers RANSOME HOFFMANN POLLARD Ltd 4 June 1970 [28 May 1969] 26975/69 Heading H4J A transducer for converting mechanical vibrations of a body into electrical signals comprises a flat-ended probe 10 for contacting the body, which probe passes through a rubber grommet 6 to transmit the vibrations to a piezoelectric element 4. A spring 5, damped by a core of polyurethane foam material 9 is located by nylon bush 7 and boss 8 to urge the element 4 towards the probe 10. The transducer has a flat frequency response in the range from 50 Hz to 5 kHz, and can be used to measure the noise level in rotary bearings.
