Abstract

1318183 Press frames H G SKELCHER 23 July 1970 [25 April 1969] 21351/69 Headings B3H and B3W [Also in Division B5] In a C-frame press having a bed 12 for one part of a tool, a pillar carrying a slideway for a ram 26 which carries a complementary part of the tool, and an arm supporting pressureapplying means for the ram, the bed and arm are connected by one or more tie bars 42 disposed between the back of the frame and a line X-X of applied pressure of the ram. The ram may be hydraulically operated but is preferably reciprocated by an eccentric on shaft 34 and contains an ejector connected to a bar 99 which abuts rods 104 having adjustable screws 108 which in turn abut a bearing housing 80 to actuate the ejector. The arm is mounted at the top of the pillar by means of a block 44 about which it can pivot as pressure is applied to the ram. A part of the slide (94), Fig. 4 (not shown) at the front of the press is angled so that the walls 20 of the slideway do not bow as pressure is applied to the ram.
